Meghan Markle reportedly disclosed a notable exchange with her husband, Prince Harry, following their seemingly “awkward” red carpet appearance in New York City a day prior.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were conferred with the title of Humanitarians of the Year during Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala held on Thursday.
However, during the red carpet proceedings, observers noted that the Duke appeared to prompt his wife to proceed more quickly while they paused briefly for photographs, and at another point, the Duchess was momentarily left unattended as Prince Harry engaged in a separate conversation at a distance.
On Friday, Meghan Markle, aged 44 and best known for her role in Suits, took to her Instagram Stories to share a short video capturing an affectionate moment with her husband, Prince Harry, backstage at the gala event.
In the footage, the Duchess was seen laughing at something the Duke had said as he reviewed some documents under a lamp, ostensibly dispelling any speculation of tension between them.
Accompanying the post, she wrote, “Happy World Mental Health Day,” and added a caption expressing affection for her husband: “…to the man who always keeps me laughing.”
The couple had earlier taken the stage on Thursday to receive their Humanitarians of the Year award, during which Meghan remarked, “Our children, Archie and Lili, are just six and four years old — fortunately still too young for social media, though we know that day is coming. Like many parents, we are constantly considering how to embrace the benefits of technology while protecting against its risks.”
Further reflecting on the challenges posed by social media, she added, “That hopeful intention of separation is rapidly becoming impossible.”
Prince Harry echoed similar sentiments, stating, “This is a pivotal moment in our shared mission to protect children and support families in the digital age.”
Project Healthy Minds recognized the Duke of Sussex for his humanitarian work and service as a mental health advocate, environmentalist, and military combat veteran, while Meghan Markle was commended as a “mother, wife, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.”
