After years of resisting social media, Christina Applegate has officially joined Instagram, marking a major moment in her ongoing journey with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The 53-year-old Dead To Me actress — who has long connected with fans through her X (formerly Twitter) account — launched her Instagram profile this week with a heartfelt and candid first post.
Sharing a black-and-white portrait taken by her “lifelong friend,” film producer Sam Sarkar, Applegate opened up about embracing the new platform on her own terms.
“Hi everyone, Christina here. If you told me a year ago that I’d be on Instagram, I would have said, ‘F*** off!’” she began her caption. “But here I am, so I’m going to do it my way. Real, raw, honest.”
In the striking image, the Emmy-winning actress gazes calmly at the camera, wearing a white V-neck tee half-tucked into dark jeans, layered necklaces — including a crescent moon pendant — and her blonde hair styled in soft, tousled waves.
Applegate revealed the photo was taken in her backyard, surrounded by wind chimes that remind her of her late mother and featuring a moon necklace gifted by a “dear witchy friend.”
The actress, who was hospitalized earlier this year, has been candid about her MS diagnosis, which she shared publicly in 2021. The neurological condition has since impacted her mobility and led her to step away from on-screen acting, though she plans to continue voice-acting and writing.
Applegate also teased her highly anticipated memoir, You With The Sad Eyes, set for release in March 2026, describing it as an unfiltered look into her life — “the good, the bad, the ugly, and the in-between.”
She wrote on X to announce her new social media chapter:
“Guys, my first ever Instagram post is up. I’m going to be posting a lot about my book journey and other personal stuffs. Hope you’ll follow.”
