Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has emerged as the most-streamed artiste on Spotify in Nigeria, according to new data released by the streaming service as it marked five years of operations in the country.

The announcement forms part of Spotify’s five-year milestone report highlighting music consumption trends and the growing influence of Nigerian music on digital streaming platforms. Data from the platform shows Asake leading the all-time list of most-streamed artistes in Nigeria.

The ranking places Asake ahead of other leading Nigerian music stars including Wizkid in second place and Seyi Vibez in third. Burna Boy and Davido complete the top five on the list.

Spotify said the recognition reflects Asake’s strong influence in the Nigerian music industry, driven by a string of hit songs and consistent engagement with listeners on the platform.

The streaming company also highlighted the rapid growth of music streaming in Nigeria since its launch in 2021, noting increased listener engagement and a surge in the popularity of Afrobeats across digital platforms.

According to Spotify, Nigerian users have generated millions of playlists and streamed billions of hours of music on the platform over the past five years, underscoring the expanding global reach of the country’s music industry.
