Veteran actor Kelsey Grammer, 70, has joyfully announced the arrival of his eighth child, a baby boy named Christopher, whom he recently welcomed with his wife of 14 years, Kayte Walsh Grammer, 46.
The Frasier star revealed the news during an appearance on Monday’s episode of Pod Meets World, sharing with excitement,
“Just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids! It was like three days ago. Christopher just joined the family.”
The announcement comes four months after Daily Mail confirmed that the couple was expecting. At the time, a source close to the family said the pregnancy had “reignited the spark” between the longtime spouses, adding that Grammer was eager to fully embrace fatherhood once again.
“Kelsey is thrilled to finally have time to enjoy being a father all over again,” the source shared. “This will be their fourth child together, and with Kelsey’s other children from previous marriages, their new bundle of joy will be surrounded by love.”
Kelsey and Kayte, who met in 2009 when she was working as a flight attendant on one of his London flights, now share four children: Faith, 13; Kelsey Gabriel, 11; Auden James, 8; and newborn Christopher.
Grammer, a six-time Emmy Award winner, first became a father in 1983 with the birth of his daughter Spencer, now 42, from his first marriage to Doreen Alderman. He later welcomed daughter Kandace Greer, 33, with former partner Barrie Buckner, and shares two children—Mason, 24, and Jude, 21—with his third wife, Camille Meyer, from whom he divorced in 2011.
The acclaimed actor, best known for his portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane, has often expressed pride in his children’s creativity and independence. Speaking to Variety last year, he reflected on his family’s growing involvement in the entertainment industry, saying:
“To think that all my kids who have chosen this path are ready to take responsibility for their lives is something I’m proud of. I never wanted to push them into the business, but it’s touching to see them embrace their own journeys.”
Grammer also said he feels most fulfilled when surrounded by his family:
“I’m happiest when all my kids are in the same room together. It’s been a life full of challenges, heartbreak, and blessings—but it’s been a great life, and I want to pass that on to them.”
