Taylor Swift urged to file a lawsuit after White House used her music to celebrate Trump’s political victory TikTok video

Fans of pop superstar Taylor Swift have called on her to initiate legal proceedings against the White House after her song was allegedly used without authorization in a TikTok video celebrating President Donald Trump.

The official White House account reportedly shared a lighthearted, patriotic parody of Swift’s chart-topping single The Fate of Ophelia, modifying the lyrics in the captions to read “The Fate of America.”

Given Swift’s publicly strained relationship with Trump—who has previously expressed disdain for the singer—the decision to feature her song struck many observers as a provocative and contradictory move.

It remains unclear whether Swift granted permission for the song’s use, though social media users have speculated that such authorization is unlikely. Swift’s fan base, known as “Swifties,” quickly took to the platform to demand legal redress.

“TAYLOR SWIFT SUE THEM FOR USING YOUR SONG!” one user wrote, while another added, “Taylor, SUE THEM.”

Some commentators derided the video as a “desperate attempt” by Trump’s team to appeal to younger audiences and appear culturally relevant, while others pointed out the irony of using music from an artist long targeted by right-wing critics.

The video—set to Swift’s lyrics—featured clips of Trump at various public moments, including his 2023 mugshot following racketeering charges, and images of Vice President JD Vance, whose past remarks about “childless cat ladies” had previously offended Swift.

Observers noted that Swift’s 2024 endorsement of Kamala Harris, which she signed “Childless Cat Lady,” had directly referenced Vance’s earlier insult.

While Trump had declared “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social earlier this year, his tone appeared to soften after Swift announced her engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce, with Trump later offering public congratulations.

Industry lawyers have suggested that if the White House or its affiliates used The Fate of Ophelia without proper licensing or synchronization rights, Swift could pursue copyright infringement or false endorsement claims.

The Daily Mail reports that Swift’s representatives have been contacted for comment but have yet to issue a public statement.

This is not the first instance of artists objecting to the unauthorized political use of their work under the Trump administration. Recent complaints have been made by MGMT, Kenny Loggins, Semisonic, and the creators of Les Misérables, all of whom condemned similar unapproved uses of their music in federal or campaign-related videos.#newsafro_
