Renowned recording artist and entrepreneur Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., professionally known as Snoop Dogg, has issued clarifying remarks reaffirming his support for the LGBTQ+ community, following prior statements that drew public criticism.
In a recent interview segment for GLAAD’s Spirit Day, the 53-year-old entertainer expressed his commitment to inclusivity and respect for diverse family structures, stating that it is “a beautiful thing that children can have parents of all walks of life and be shown love.” He further emphasized that “love is the key,” irrespective of whether a family consists of “two fathers, two mothers, or otherwise.”
Snoop Dogg’s renewed remarks were made during a conversation with Jeremy Beloate, a queer musical artist and collaborator on the track Love Is Love, featured in the rapper’s new animated children’s series, Doggyland, on YouTube. The artist explained that the song was conceived to promote understanding, compassion, and unity among children, adding that he hoped to “help them live a happy life and understand that love is love.”
In an accompanying statement, Snoop Dogg highlighted that Love Is Love was written to educate young audiences about “kindness, acceptance, and inclusivity,” noting that partnering with GLAAD “felt right because spreading love and respect for everybody is what real gangstas do.” He added, “We’re showing the next generation that kindness is cool, inclusion is powerful, and love always wins.”
This renewed stance follows backlash from comments made in August 2025, in which Snoop Dogg expressed discomfort with LGBTQ+ representation in the Disney film Lightyear. The rapper has since clarified that his prior remarks reflected surprise and confusion in responding to his grandchildren’s questions, not disapproval or prejudice.
