Actor Joshua Jackson, 47, and actress Jodie Turner-Smith, 39, have formally suspended their scheduled divorce trial as they continue private negotiations concerning the custody of their five-year-old daughter, Juno.
According to court documents filed on Tuesday and obtained by Us Weekly, Turner-Smith’s legal representatives submitted a motion requesting that the previously scheduled October 15 trial date be vacated. The filing indicates that both parties are actively pursuing a mutually agreed-upon custody arrangement outside of court proceedings.
The filing states: “[Turner-Smith and Jackson] are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment.”
Turner-Smith initially filed for dissolution of marriage in 2023, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of separation. The couple married in 2019 and share one child together.
The decision to suspend the trial aligns with California’s family law framework, which encourages settlement through private negotiation or mediation to promote cooperative co-parenting and minimize litigation involving minor children.
No additional public statements have been released by either party or their representatives at this time.#newsafro_
