Jessica Simpson portrays Lee-Ann, a jilted rock star’s wife whose cosmetic surgery goes disastrously wrong, in Kim Kardashian’s new Hulu series All’s Fair, created by Ryan Murphy.
The high-profile legal drama stars Kardashian, Naomi Watts, and Niecy Nash as powerhouse divorce attorneys who lead an elite, all-female law firm. Teyana Taylor appears as their assistant, Sarah Paulson as a rival attorney, and Glenn Close as a seasoned former colleague. The firm specializes in representing women who have been betrayed or mistreated by the men in their lives.
Simpson’s character, Lee-Ann — a glamorous blonde married to rock musician Tommy (played by 1980s singer Rick Springfield) — becomes entangled in a volatile relationship marked by infidelity and manipulation. After Tommy pressures her into undergoing cosmetic surgery that ends in a botched procedure, Lee-Ann seeks legal representation from Kardashian’s character, Allura Grant, to obtain a substantial financial settlement.
The storyline escalates when Lee-Ann, driven by anguish and rage, confronts her ex-husband during a dinner with a younger woman and exacts a violent act of revenge.
Simpson revealed that transforming into Lee-Ann required “eight hours of prosthetics,” describing the filming experience as both challenging and exhilarating. “I really embodied someone that I am not, so I was definitely acting,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
In a separate interview with Extra, Simpson described the role as “steamy” and “naughty,” noting that her love scenes with Springfield — who is more than 30 years her senior — were a new experience. “I have never made out with a man that much older than me. It wasn’t terrible,” she joked.
All’s Fair marks Simpson’s first major dramatic performance, which she characterized as “an emotional journey,” adding that she “didn’t know I could cry on cue.”
Off-screen, Simpson has been open about her personal experiences with cosmetic procedures, including a non-surgical facelift and two tummy tucks performed against medical advice due to health concerns. She has said her decision stemmed from deep insecurities about her body image.
Earlier this year, Simpson confirmed her separation from former NFL player Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children: Maxwell Drew, 13; Ace Knute, 12; and Birdie Mae, 6. The singer was previously married to musician Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, a marriage that ended in a high-profile divorce settlement reportedly totaling $12 million, owing to the absence of a prenuptial agreement.
