Blue Ivy Carter, the 13-year-old daughter of internationally acclaimed recording artists Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, exhibited a striking resemblance to her mother as she attended The Angel Ball, held on Monday evening at Cipriani Wall Street, Lower Manhattan.
The young Ms. Carter, elegantly attired in a pink gown complemented by a matching feathered coat and slingback kitten heels, was in attendance to support her grandmother, Ms. Tina Knowles, who was being honored for her “extraordinary impact” and her continued commitment to advancing cancer research.
In recognition of her mother’s philanthropic distinction, Beyoncé, aged 44, posted a congratulatory message on Instagram stating, “Congrats Mom on your philanthropy award at the Angel Ball tonight!” Ms. Knowles, aged 71, adhered to the black-tie dress code in a burgundy velvet gown featuring a thigh-high slit, a chest cutout, and accessorized with opera gloves and platform heels. Her look was completed by hairstylist Nakia Collins and makeup artist Armando Kole.
A breast cancer survivor herself, Ms. Knowles has been a long-standing advocate for cancer awareness and research, having also experienced the loss of a close friend to the disease. She appeared on the red carpet alongside Destiny’s Child alumna Michelle Williams.
Despite her youth, Blue Ivy Carter has already achieved significant professional milestones, including earning a Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Award, NAACP Image Award, Voice Arts Award, two BET Awards, and two Guinness World Records. She recently performed as a backup dancer on her mother’s Cowboy Carter World Tour, which grossed approximately $407.6 million, following her debut on the $579.8 million-grossing Renaissance World Tour.
In a recent appearance on Sherri, Ms. Knowles reflected on her grandchildren’s upbringing, emphasizing discipline and hard work. She stated, “You have to tell them it’s more important to be a good person and that you have to work for what you get. Nobody’s going to hand it to you because of who your parents are.”
She further humorously noted that while her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, ensure their children remain grounded, discipline does not involve physical correction: “Don’t start that — they don’t beat the kids — but they do set them straight.”
Ms. Knowles also revealed that her eight-year-old granddaughter, Rumi, has persistently expressed interest in joining her mother onstage, just as her elder sister Blue Ivy has done. Recalling the experience, Ms. Knowles remarked that Blue Ivy would sometimes counsel her younger sister to “calm it down,” and by the third or fourth performance, the young performer was confidently selecting her own wardrobe for the stage.#newsafro_
