Nigerian media personality and former reality television contestant, Uti Nwachukwu (popularly known as “Sir Uti”), has issued a public statement concerning the recent disqualification of Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Faith.
Posting via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Nwachukwu cautioned against the tendency to categorise individuals who instigate conflict as “victims,” while branding those who respond—albeit without physical aggression—as “abusers.” He observed that such mischaracterisation may be narcissistic and potentially dangerous.
Faith’s disqualification arose from a heated altercation with fellow housemate, Sultana, which generated widespread reaction both within and outside the Big Brother Naija house.
Nwachukwu remarked:
“Could she have acted better? Yes. Could he have handled it better? Yes. A trigger is just as grave as a reaction. It is incredibly narcissistic to label the one who triggered/created/fueled the situation a victim and then label the one who reacted (without hitting the other) an Abuser. This is not defending anyone; it is analysing what we all watched live—not edited internet clips. Learn the lessons and dead sentiments. This is 2025; let us be guided.”
As a past winner of Big Brother Africa and a long-standing commentator on BBNaija, Nwachukwu emphasised the importance of balance and objectivity in evaluating such incidents, urging both the organisers and the viewing public to avoid sentiment-driven judgments.
The show’s governing rulebook—Article 18, subsection (1)—expressly prohibits all forms of violence, encompassing physical aggression, provocation, goading, bullying, and victimisation. Big Brother is vested with discretion to impose sanctions deemed appropriate for such infractions.
Faith’s removal follows the precedent of prior disqualifications:
In 2019, contestant Tacha was expelled after multiple physical altercations with fellow housemate Mercy, while Mercy received two strikes for provocation.
In 2020, Erica was disqualified after repeated violations, including goading housemates, obstructing the Deputy Head of House, and other prohibited conduct.
In 2022, Beauty was similarly disqualified for successive infractions.
