Don Jazzy, opens up on why he remains afraid of marriage, despite his success and maturity

Music executive and producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has offered an in-depth reflection on his views about love, marriage, and religion, acknowledging that despite his success, he continues to grapple with fears surrounding commitment and relationships.

Speaking in an interview with HabbyFX on YouTube, the 42-year-old Mavin Records CEO—who was previously married in 2003 before divorcing two years later—discussed his evolving perspective on relationships, personal growth, and faith.

According to Don Jazzy, while he still believes in love, negative experiences—both personal and observed—have made him more cautious about entering into another marriage.

“There are good ones, there are bad ones. My parents were madly in love before my mom died. We see examples like that that make you believe in relationships and crave something like that,” he said.

“But when you see the bad examples—men being violent or cheating, or people airing their dirty laundry on social media—it gives me fear. You try to be vulnerable with one person, and it scares you. I’m still waiting for God. They say when you find the one, you’ll have butterflies in your stomach.”

He further admitted that financial risks associated with divorce also contribute to his reluctance to remarry.

“A man has to lose half of all that he has worked for in his life—those ones without a prenup, like in America. You see people who have struggled all their lives, and when they divorce, they split everything. All those things scare me. The money I have amassed is for my generation,” he explained.

When asked whether he had tried love again, Don Jazzy admitted to dating but confirmed he is currently single, adding humorously:

“Na fear. But God’s time is the best. I just want the right person. At the same time, I’m not sure if I’m the right person for somebody’s daughter.”

Reflecting on personal growth, he acknowledged his flaws and his ongoing journey toward self-improvement.

“Am I the ideal partner? Am I disciplined enough to be with one person? I’m working on myself and praying to God to make me a better person. Over the years, I’ve become a better man. When I was young, I was a menace, but now I’m wiser.”

The producer also shared insight into his creative process and daily routine, noting that he spends most of his time indoors between his home, office, and studio, delegating tasks to trusted team members.

“One can’t do it all alone. Even God is all-powerful, but He doesn’t do everything by Himself,” he added.

On matters of faith, Don Jazzy stated that while he remains a believer in God, he has grown increasingly cautious about organized religion.

“I believe in God by birth. But nowadays, I’m sceptical about churches because of how things are. Still, I believe in God,” he affirmed.

Despite his apprehensions, fans have praised Don Jazzy for his candor, humility, and self-awareness, commending him for speaking openly about personal fears and emotional growth in an industry that often rewards perfection over vulnerability.#newsafro_
