The coffin of Kenya’s much-beloved opposition leader, Raila Odinga, arrived by helicopter at a packed stadium in his political stronghold of western Kenya on Saturday, drawing tens of thousands of mourners who gathered to pay their final respects.

According to AFP correspondents on the scene, the atmosphere was charged with emotion and intensity as mourners surged toward the venue. Reports indicated scenes of chaos when a large crowd breached security barriers and climbed over walls in an attempt to gain entry to the stadium, underscoring the deep affection and devotion many Kenyans feel for the late leader.

Odinga, a towering figure in Kenyan politics for decades, was widely revered as a champion of democracy and social justice. His passing has plunged the nation into mourning, with tributes pouring in from political allies, rivals, and citizens alike.

Security forces were deployed in large numbers to maintain order during the memorial proceedings, as the country continues to honor the legacy of a man long considered the face of Kenya’s opposition politics.#newsafro_
