Tinubu’s UK Itinerary Excludes Meeting With Opposition Leader Kemi Badenoch
President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom has sparked discussion after it was observed that his official itinerary does not include a meeting with Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK opposition.
The visit, which marks Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in decades, has been largely focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with engagements involving King Charles III, senior government officials, and key stakeholders in trade and investment.
Traditionally, such high-level diplomatic visits may include interactions with both government and opposition figures as part of broader political engagement. However, no meeting with Badenoch has been listed among Tinubu’s scheduled activities.
Observers note that Badenoch, a prominent British politician of Nigerian heritage, remains an influential figure within UK politics, making her absence from the itinerary notable.
Despite this, officials indicate that the visit is primarily centered on economic cooperation, trade partnerships, and diplomatic relations, rather than domestic UK political engagements.
