The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released its preliminary report on the engine anomaly involving an Arik Air aircraft, providing early insights into the incident while investigations continue.

According to the bureau, the incident occurred when the Arik Air aircraft experienced an engine-related anomaly during flight, prompting the flight crew to take precautionary safety measures.

In its report, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau stated that the pilots followed standard aviation safety procedures, successfully managing the situation and ensuring the aircraft landed safely without injuries to passengers or crew members.

The bureau explained that the preliminary report is part of the early stage of the investigation, aimed at establishing key facts surrounding the incident. It noted that further technical analysis will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the engine anomaly.

According to aviation authorities, maintenance records, flight data, and cockpit voice recordings are currently being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The NSIB reiterated that the purpose of its investigation is not to assign blame, but rather to identify safety lessons that can help prevent similar occurrences in the future.

A final report will be released after the investigation is concluded, which will include detailed findings and safety recommendations for the aviation industry.

The development highlights the importance of strict safety oversight and continuous monitoring of aircraft operations to maintain high safety standards within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
