International music sensation Katy Perry, 41, has confirmed that she is in a relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53, during her Lifetimes Tour concert in Prague on Thursday.
The Firework hitmaker addressed a fan proposal mid-performance, declining the offer and clarifying her relationship status.
“This guy is trying to get me to marry him and he has a ring in his hand,” Perry told the audience, before adding, “No! I am dating someone else, for crying out f***ing loud.”
The revelation follows months of speculation after the pair were first linked in July, when they were spotted dining together in Montreal. They appeared to confirm their romance over the past weekend in Paris, where they were seen attending events together.
Trudeau appeared to acknowledge the relationship indirectly through his Halloween costume shared on Instagram on Friday. Dressed as a shark — a playful nod to Perry’s iconic Super Bowl 2015 performance featuring “Left Shark” dancers — Trudeau captioned the post:
“Ready for Halloween with Hadrien: he’s the surfer, I’m the shark. We built the costume together — a little father-son Halloween teamwork.”
Perry subtly featured Trudeau in a recent Instagram post celebrating her 41st birthday. In one clip, the former prime minister was seen smiling and cheering as Perry blew out her candles.
Both recently ended long-term relationships. Perry announced her split from actor Orlando Bloom earlier this year; they share a five-year-old daughter, Daisy. Trudeau separated from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023 after 18 years of marriage, with whom he shares three children.
According to People magazine, insiders close to the couple describe the relationship as “joyful and supportive,” noting that Perry and Trudeau “talk about everything” and “laugh a lot.” Another source added that the two “are very much a couple” and “make efforts to see each other despite their demanding schedules.”
