Actor Dean Gaffney, aged 47, is reportedly engaged in a romantic relationship with Ms. Kate Black, aged 31, a former Harvard University graduate with additional academic credentials in Artificial Intelligence from the University of York. The relationship is said to have commenced following an introduction by mutual acquaintances, shortly after Ms. Black’s separation from a long-term partner.
According to reports published by The Sun, the couple, who share an age difference of approximately sixteen years, embarked upon their first date in April 2025. Sources close to the parties have described the relationship as an unexpected pairing, noting that Ms. Black is “not his usual type.”
One source stated:
“Dean is smitten, and they get on really well despite the fact she’s not exactly his usual type. He normally dates party girls, whereas Kate is more of a homebody. She’s intelligent, hardworking, and ambitious. She typically dates driven, academic individuals, but she’s drawn to Dean’s humor and laid-back personality.”
While a representative for Mr. Gaffney has publicly denied the existence of a romantic relationship, Ms. Black, when approached for comment, responded, “Yes, but no comment.” The Daily Mail has reportedly contacted Mr. Gaffney’s representatives for further clarification.
Mr. Gaffney, who shares twin daughters with his former partner, Ms. Sarah Burge, has previously made several attempts to pursue romantic relationships through online platforms. In 2024, he joined the dating application Hinge, listing “smoking” as his “biggest turn-off” and describing himself as “a nice humble person” who values kindness and reciprocity. His profile featured photographs of him in formal attire and included the phrase: “Dating me is like winning the lottery every day.”
In previous years, the actor also registered on other dating platforms, including Bumble in 2019 and the exclusive celebrity application Raya in 2021, following the dissolution of his relationship with Ms. Burge in 2015. His Raya profile reportedly featured Kate Bush’s 1989 track This Woman’s Work as his chosen anthem.#newsafro_
