Davido meets French President Macron, in a bid to growing his int’l influence as one of Africa’s cultural ambassadors.

Afrobeats megastar David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has generated widespread excitement online after announcing his recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The multi-award-winning musician shared photographs of the high-profile engagement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, captioning the post:

“It was an honour meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”

While Davido did not reveal specific details of their discussions, the meeting underscores the strengthening of Nigeria–France cultural and diplomatic relations, particularly in the areas of creative collaboration and youth engagement.

President Macron has consistently demonstrated a keen interest in Africa’s burgeoning creative and entertainment sectors. In 2018, he made a historic visit to the Afrika Shrine in Lagos — home of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti — describing it as an emblem of African cultural pride and artistic innovation.

The latest engagement also coincides with France’s continued efforts to foster cross-cultural partnerships through initiatives such as the Création Africa Forum, which recently convened in Lagos. The event, organized by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and curated by Maison des Mondes Africains, spotlighted African excellence across digital fashion, gaming, animation, and immersive technologies, further promoting creative exchange and investment opportunities between Africa and Europe.

Davido’s meeting with President Macron further reinforces his position as a global cultural ambassador, representing both Nigeria’s dynamic entertainment industry and the broader Afrobeats movement on the world stage.#newsafro_
