An excerpt published by The Hollywood Reporter from journalist Jeff Pearlman’s forthcoming biography Only God Can Judge Me: The Many Lives of Tupac Shakur alleged that Jackson had refused to film a kissing scene with the late rapper Tupac Shakur unless he underwent an AIDS test.
According to the book, the claim was attributed to actor Joe Torry, who recounted tension on set between the two stars. Pearlman described Jackson as a consummate professional, while alleging that Shakur’s on-set behavior — including tardiness and improvisation — created friction during filming.
The film’s director, John Singleton, had previously dismissed speculation of any animosity between the pair, and Jackson herself never publicly addressed the rumor.
